Asra

My rancid blood whispers to me: kill, kill, and kill again. My ruined body yearns to reap death in this world, and when this foul Urge calls, it possesses my whole being. Injured beyond repair, I know nothing besides this: I must resist the Dark Urge lest it consume my mind. I must discover who I was and what happened to me, before my twitching knife-hand writes a tragedy in blood.

Last chance to turn back! There will be spoilers for most of Balder's Gate III in here. I'll keep it to a minimum. The Dark Urge background has a handful of options tied to the world state. This is my default version of Asra: the Dark Urge trying to retake his life while learning about his past. This is the "good" playthrough in which he occasionally slips but tries to free himself from what he was. Below are some of the major decisions made in this version.

Act One
Emerald Grove
- Recruited all major companions (Shadowheart, Lae'zel, Astarion, Gale, Withers, Wyll, Scratch)
- Sympathized with tiefling refugees.
- Allowed Astarion to bite him. Defended his presence when other party members got weirded out.
- Had run-in with Auntie Ethel. No deal, killed her.
- Investigated Kagha, exposed connection to Shadow Druids. Killed Kagha in the ensuing fight.
- Reluctantly fed Gale artifacts. Was not happy about it.
- Murdered Alfira. Admits to the camp he doesn't remember doing it. Only partially lying.
- Rescued Halsin, saved Volo, slaughtered all goblins and leaders.
- Rescued owlbear cub.
- At the celebration, spent the night with Astarion.

Underdark
- Cleared out the Duegars by the lake.
- Set dark gnomes free.
- Turned the mercenaries against Nere in Grymforge; delivered Nere's head to myconids.
- Allowed Omeluum to attempt to understand tadpole.
- Explored Selunite Temple and Arcane Tower.

Githyanki Creche
- Let Lae'zel attempt the cure. Watched for one round, until other companions got concerned. Urged her to break out.
- Defeated Inquisitor Ch’r’ai W’wargaz.
- Did not kill guardian.

Act 2
- Helped He-Who-Was (then killed him).
- Resisted urge to kill Isobel.
- Saved tiefling and gnome prisoners from Moonrise Towers.
- Reunited Oliver and Thaniel.
- Completed Gunatlet of Shar, persuaded demon to kill his followers and himself.
- Shadowheart spared Nightsong.
- Recruited Jaheria and headed into the mind flayer colony.
- Refused to let Gale go nuclear.
- Defeated Ketheric Thorm.
- Resisted urge to kill Astarion. Spent the night tied up with him watching over Asra.

Act 3
In Progress
- Helped the Emperor subdue Prince Orpheus.
- Made tentative alliance with Gortash against Orin.

I'm still working on this playthrough, this will be an option in the near future.

Asra is an abjuration wizard. Abilities include:

- Arcane Ward

Once per long rest, when you cast an abjuration spell of 1st level or higher, you can create a magical ward on yourself that lasts until you finish a long rest. The ward has 28 max HP, and takes damage instead of you until it reaches 0 HP. Whenever you cast an abjuration spell of 1st level or higher, the ward regains HP equal to twice the level of the spell.

- Projected Ward

When a creature that you can see within 30 ft. of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to cause your Arcane Ward to absorb that damage. If this damage reduces the ward to 0 hit points, the warded creature takes any remaining damage.
